Mangalore University, which holds a prominent place in the educational scenario of India, was established in 1980, affiliating to it colleges in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu of Karnataka.
The University offers many
professional courses including Hotel Management besides
Bachelors and Post Graduate degrees in Arts, Science and
Commerce. The University also has postgraduate departments,
where apart from post graduate studies like M.C.A., M.B.A
etc., research leading to the M Phil and Ph D degrees
are also carried out.
Mangalore University was the pioneer University in India to offer a Bachelor's Degree program in Hotel Management, recognising the immense potential in this field.
The rich spectrum of colleges under the university, each offering some of the courses, maintain the standards prescribed by the university, many of these colleges established and operated under private initiative.
